Workshops in the rainforest with Edgeware

Today I ran a digital marketing for artists workshop with Edgeware Creative Entrepreneurship‘s Cultivate the Arts program. Each of the participants was an emerging, established or aspiring artist and it was interesting to shape my usual marketing and digital media workshop to that specific industry. It was held in a place very familiar to me, but also very new. Cedar Creek at the end of Cedar Creek Road outside Samford is a place we have swimming as a family forever.

The workshop though was was held in a place very familiar to me, but also very new. Cedar Creek at the end of Cedar Creek Road outside Samford is a place we have swimming as a family forever.

When you drive all the way to the end of the road that’s where you’ll find the main swimming hole. It’s cold and clear deep in the rainforest. But when you drive to the end of the road there is a big gate that you can’t pass. But today I did. I opened the gate and drove through past and headed up to Cedar Creek Falls Retreat. It was a bit of drive – longer than I imaged. You drive until you can drive no further.

Once there, the retreat is nestled down close to the creek. It is a collection of buildings – a workshop space, a dining room and living quarters – surrounding a water fountain. I was only there for a few hours and I immediately felt relaxed and peaceful. I would love to find a reason to go back there again – a workshop with a wonderful facilitator for three or four days. It would be heaven.

Oh … and the workshop went well too. 😉

As I said on Insta, you don’t mind working on a Sunday when it’s in a rainforest.
