In terms of ‘wokeness’, also known in conventional circles as respecting cultural diversity, flying a flag is pretty much level 1 on the Richter Scale. Some institutions fly their flags, say the acknowledgments and wear the pins and are still hopeless. But hey, at least they’re giving it a crack.

We saved the RDA

So, the PM announced today amongst a whole bunch of national security/anti-terror stuff, that the proposed changes to the Racial Discrimination Act, in particular Section 18C, will no longer proceed.We are all very happy about this news. My submission to the 18C Consultation

I managed this week to get in a quick submission to the 18C Consultation process. It’s not great, but it is a version of a couple of the letters that I wrote to the prior to the release of the exposure draft. At least I’m on the record, and it’s also my first submission. This morning Son2 was watching a doco about World War 2 on the History Channel. As we were about to leave, there was an interview with an older woman (it was historical footage, probably filmed in the 1970s) about her experience of the rise of Hitler and the early steps to what later become The Holocaust.
